February 2011

Yes, we are crazy (as we were told many times). We took our whole family on a winter campout. It was a great experience. We learned a lot and we are SSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOO grateful for all our blessings.

You can almost see both stoves in this picture. That night we raised the temp in the tent to over 80 degrees. However, during the night it got down below 32 degrees even with William and Ben waking up in the night and feeding the fire. William spent most of the time chopping wood and watching the fires.
The winter sleeping bags were wonderful. I'm so glad we don't just have summer ones.
We shoveled a bunch of snow but as you can see there was still alot left. It dried up around the stoves but we put tarps on it and foam and then our sleeping bags. In the morning when we packed up the snow was still there.

I don't know what we would have done without Arletta's help watching the kids. Soon I'll post a picture of Hyrum's coat. He melted it against the stove. We later noticed that Eliza and Alice had also singed a little bit of their coats. It was such a a worry the whole time keeping the kids away from the stoves!

Mark Adam's kids (Ty and Buba) joined us for most of the time. We were grateful to have his home not to far so we could use the bathroom.

Sabrina and Ben and Arletta . . . . YOU ROCK! Thanks for doing this with us!
